I'm Atamjeet Singh Bawa (Atam) - a Bahrain-based Indian artist known both for my intricate paper craftsmanship and for my unmistakable, iconic signature: a tiny paper airplane, worn on my glasses every single day since October 2017. The world recognizes me as "that guy with an airplane on his glasses".

For over twenty years, I've built detailed scale models of machines with surgical precision, entirely out of paper - tanks, motorcycles, aircraft, ships, trains, space shuttles, and more - earning recognition across India and the globe, including a cover feature on BBC Top Gear India (they honored me with a title, "The Papersmith"), a TEDx Talk, and national broadcast coverage on NDTV.

In the recent years, I had a realization that the gear was always the heart of every machine I've ever created, and I started painting with what's inside them. My practice has since evolved into large-format mixed-media canvas work under the series "Order in Chaos," where hundreds of hand-placed paper gears become a meditation on connection, randomness, and the invisible mechanics that hold life together. I brought my past as a modeler to my present as a painter, and this new language was born. I deconstructed the machine to reveal its soul. Because for me, the world is a machine, and I am just revealing the engine.

Away from the canvas, I work as a Senior Solution Architect in telecom - a career of equal precision and complexity, a discipline that taught me that attention to detailing makes all the difference, whether it's in a machine, or in a life.
